The Cold War: Then & Now

I grew up during the 80's. A time shadowed by the fear of a great nuclear holocaust that could happen at any moment. Russia was our enemy. We were told they were such an evil army. Communism hates freedom and wants us all dead in the streets in pools of our own blood.

Sound familiar? Sounds like the same rhetoric that this administration has been preaching for 7 years about the terrorists. That is because it is the same.

We lived with this fear that was reinforced with a made for television movie, "The Day After". There was many other movies including one entitled "Red Dawn" that was about Russia trying to invade or attack America.

So you see this idea, that we are the targets of evil for no reason, has been around a long time. We just now have a new enemy.

America must always have an enemy....

Yesterday, Russia threatened the United States with military force for it's missile defense shield. What I find is amazing is that this was not major news in America. The big news on this same day in America was that Iran test fired missiles.

I believe it is because America is looking for a new enemy to pick on. It is just the one we have in mind has friends who have it's back and we, being ignorant as we are, ignore these friends.

If Americans began to realize that Russia has changed since the end of the cold war to what they are becoming, they be alarmed. They want to know what happened to the "End of the Cold War"....

The Cold War...what a time to be alive. Which takes me back to why I began to write this rant.

What morons on the think tank Project for the New American Century thought it be a great idea to post online what they believe should be America's goals in the new century. Let me remind you that this think tank has members from the current administration, including Wolfowitz, Cheney, and Rumsfeld.

They posted online on a website that is no longer available, the following goals for America after the Cold War: Increase an already enormous military budget at the expense of domestic social programs, Toppling of regimes resistant to our corporate interests, Forcing democracy at the barrel of a gun in regions that have no history of the democratic process and Replacing the UN’s role of preserving and extending international order.

This was online for the world to see like Russia don't have access to the Internet.....

This was the role that neoconservatives wanted for America after the Cold War. These fools figured since Russia had wasted all of it's resources that we could just assume power of the world.

That's American ignorance for you......

Now a new Cold War is beginning...but don't look for American news to tell you that. They will let the bombs drop before they say anything is coming.

Pay attention to international news...........
